National Coach Theodore Whitmore continues to look at players with the aim of naming a final Olympic squad of twenty three to finalise preparations for the Central American and Caribbean Games, Football tournament to be held in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico beginning July 21, 2010.
Jamaica which is drawn in Group B will open its account on July 22 against Mexico. It will then take on Panama on July 25 and play its last Group game on July 27 against St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Group A consists of Trinidad and Tobago; Belize; Costa Rica and host nation Puerto Rico. The top two teams from the Group Stage will play at the Semi-Finals. Losers at this Stage will compete for the third and fourth place and winners will advance to the Finals and vie for a Gold Medal.
The technical staff has called another training camp beginning today, June 21 and breaking on Friday, 25th. The squad trains each day at 7:30am and 3;30 pm at Waterhouse Football Club.
Having focused primarily on fitness levels over the last month, Coach Whitmore has indicated that the next three weeks will focus on the squad's tactical preparedness which will include a practice game each week. The squad will play newly promoted team to the Digicel Premier League Benfica in a practice Game on June 27 at 5pm at Drax Hall. |
